Our Fault Review – Highly Polished Spain-Based Step-Sibling Melodrama Proves Too Tame to Be Annoying

This third installment in a popular series, coming after previous entries named "My Fault" and "Your Fault", has been brought to screen from Mercedes Ron's novel series. Aimed at a specific audience, it delivers a familiar combination of melodramatic flair, romantic tension, and luxurious settings. Yet, despite these goals, the dialogue feels awkward and clichéd, particularly in the English subtitles.

Story Summary

New viewers may find themselves puzzled by the narrative, as the final chapter presumes prior knowledge with past installments. Nevertheless, the central dynamic between Noah and Nick is easy to grasp: ex-partners who previously had a step-sibling connection when their parents married in later life. Against the backdrop of a picturesque Ibiza wedding, they reunite, argue, and eventually separate—only to come together by the ending.

In the meantime, Noah pursues a romantic link with Simon, as her ex handles his professional life in formal attire. Adding tension, a villainous character named Michael—bearing a resemblance to Nick—attempts to disrupt their lives.

Style and Atmosphere

Shot in stunning Spanish seaside locales and London, the film boasts a polished, magazine-style look. Plenty of attention is devoted to fashion, ceremony planning, and scenic backdrops. A steady musical score of electronic pop tracks in multiple languages fills quiet moments, but the final result is more bland than engaging.

Ultimately, Our Fault is too mild to offend or even irritate—making it inoffensive yet forgettable.

The movie is available on Amazon Prime from October 16.
